SYNOPSIS
FRIARS LANTERN ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS: TRIBES SEASON 1
YELLOW EARTH, a prison planet absent any edible plant or animal life, is divided into a number of aggresive and self-serving factions known as TRIBES. On a periodic basis, new inmates are dropped into one of a thousand designated Zones. These New Inmates are extremely valuable for their clothing, their strong backs, and well... for other reasons that are made most clear by the fact that... on YELLOW EARTH, there isn't much to eat.

NOAH, also called "the grower", is one of Yellow Earth's newest cons. In addition to being somewhat out of place, given his petty criminal history, NOAH is also unique because everything he touches sprouts with plant life. He is an instantaneous commodity on YE and every nation thereof descends upon him and his only ally, a drop-scout named KC.

THE TRIBES "MISSION"
We plan for this first season to be a 12 episode series. We intend to enlist the writers/producers in not only creating new inventive story lines and TRIBES, but also in the creative low cost production of the series, at Jeremy K Clayton and Sean Lee's direction. We would like to have a varied crew and cast from show to show and enlist most if not all of the state's Film community in it's production.

ATTN: WRITERS/PRODUCERS
Sean Lee and Jeremy Keith Clayton have been developing this 12-episode, (each episode being 17min) SCI-FI project for some time now and we want to use it to do something completely different.

We want to build a writing team made up of new and experienced writers who are also interested in learning how to produce their own films. This great and exciting project will be used as an educational tool for this dedicated team while also (because of it's relationship with FLE and Filmstock) have revenue generating and budgetary potential.

Any writer/producer who feels like this is a project they might like to be a part of should write Jeremy Clayton at gcclayton@netzero.com or Sean Lee at timeisnotlinear@yahoo.com. Please let us know if you would like to join this massive and ambitious project. We are not concerned with your level of skill, just your level of commitment.

ATTN: ACTORS

All genders and ethnicities welcome. Character breakdowns are posted below along with contact for each specific tribe. Most roles pay credit only. Some primary roles will receive deferred compensation in the form of points and some select roles may receive front end compensation in the form of per diems.

Send your headshots to:
gcclayton@netzero.com with TRIBES in the subject field.

TRIBAL and ROLE BREAKDOWNS:

The Grower: AKA, Noah. Sentenced to Yellow Earth for petty crimes. No one, not even Noah is sure why he wound up here. Was there a clerical error that shipped him here? Did someone arrange for him to be sent here? Did something happen to him accidently that gave him the ability to grow edible food by touch alone, or did someone do this to him prior to the drop? Noah is a whiny, meek boy scout. He wouldn’t hurt a fly on purpose and would drop whatever he is doing to help an old lady cross the road. However there is something dark within him, something that has never been given the chance or proper environment to grow. Yellow Earth however, is the perfect environment to nurture and grow his evil side, and it does grow. SPEAKING ONGOING

THE MIX:
Contact: Jeremy Clayton  gcclayton@netzero.com
Tribe description: Dictatorial.  Kill or be killed.  Eat the dead. Both sexes.
The Mix is the largest and most aggressive of the known tribes on Yellow Earth. Anarchy reigns within the Mix – they believe that laws and codes restrict the natural flow of things, making it impossible to truly live a worthy life.., In its interaction with other tribes, however, even the Mix adheres to “Negotiations”, the unstated rules of interaction observed by every tribe on Yellow Earth. Within the Mix no social norms exist save that all members have the potential and responsibility to be unique.

Rigger:
Leader of the Mix. Rigger rules without contestation. He is a human canvas of strange body art and clothing, from a modified, leather-laced, tweed blazer to a holey fedora through which juts a pillar of crimson hair. He has the word “my” branded onto the top of each hand and the words “rules” and “world” spelled out on the knuckles of each hand. He has a strange stiffness to his right arm. He is of average size but fit and always moves with intention – he does not fidget – otherwise he stands stone rigid and contemplative. When he speaks he explodes. SPEAKING EP1

Rex: Rigger’s second in command. A monster, but calm and thoughtful. Rex is a sort of mountain type. He is unkempt, save his chin and upper lip, which he keeps shaven. He hates it when food gets lost in his beard. He has uneven sideburns and hair. Rex designed the first “rockmail” body armor and wears a long-sleeved version – beige/white. He wears bracers made of denim, backed by wood and laced in sharp rock and eye glass. Black combat boots, black cargos. He is convinced that his mother (in reality dead) is still alive and on Yellow Earth with him, but he mentions it rarely and only to Paunduda, his best friend. SPEAKING EP 1

Manchu:
Leader of a scout unit for The Mix. A bold and decisive leader, he is also a psychopath. He is completely subservient to Rigger out of both fear and respect. He is a mini version of Rigger in terms of temperament and leadership skills and probably the one who would take over The Mix if Rigger were killed. Manchu is on Yellow Earth for running over a crossing guard because he was late for work. AUXILIARY EP1, FOREFRONT EP 2

Lortando: Manchu’s second in command of their scout unit. Lortando is a weak, fearful type, though strong and powerful as long as the masses are on his side. He obeys whoever is the strongest, hoping his loyalty will evoke protection. Lortando is on Yellow Earth after killing a homeowner in a botched home invasion. AUXILIARY EP 1, FOREFRONT EP 2

Balliet: Rigger’s 3rd wife (forced wife/property). Balliet is emotionally beaten and sullen. She attempts to convince herself of an artificial love for Rigger, despite his aduse, to distract herself from the heartache of her imprisonment.  SPEAKING EP2

Samil: Rigger’s 2nd wife. A cold and hardened woman who has seen the power and the depravity of the Mix Tribe and has somehow learned to fly under the radar. She knows much of many, but speaks deliberately. She secretly cares for people; something she does not advertise. SPEAKING EP2

Cheap Seats
: A committable psychopath named for his failing vision. He speak in intense riddles most of the time, but in brief servings offer lucid predictions that all to often come to pass. AUXILIARY EP 1, AUXILIARY EP2

Augustine
: Rigger’s 2nd Mate. Augustine is an intelligent Scot or Brit who speaks in a Rigger-like half-slang. He almost always plays devil’s advocate to Rigger who almost always eschews him for it. Augustine will not back down from Rigger, but he will also never betray him. AUXILIARY EP 1, SPEAKING EP2

THE BANDU:

Contact: Karen L.  kl417g@yahoo.com
Tribe description: Senatorial. Eat the enemy. Both sexes.
The Bandu are a militaristic democracy. They are led by Jabreeti, who rules through an advisory council. They are a blend of tribes that have been non-forcibly integrated into the Bandu through Negotiations. Jabreeti is the uncontested leader. Not even his harshest of critics on the council or in the tribe would attempt to overthrow him, except for perhaps the old members of the Dia Zeem. The Bandu make heavy use of military strategy and tactics in their dealings with the world around them. They have assembled a rudimentary communications system that allows them to use the Sun’s power to relay information over long distances so that their scout units can effectively communicate with Jabreeti and the council when out in the field.

Jabreeti:
Leader of the Bandu. Uncommonly wise for a 30-year-old – Black, already graying and bald. Jabreeti has the style of Mathew Mcconaughey in “Reign of Fire”.  He is incredibly diplomatic and humble. He listens to council. He cannot stand the sun. He hates it. People fear him because of his appearance and stance:  calm and ready. However, in his heart, he is good. He is on Yellow Earth for burning down a building owned by his uncle’s business rival. 14 died in resultant fires. He can talk himself into or out of anything. SPEAKING EP1

Hosax:
Jabreeti’s military advisor. Hosax is a straight-edged, squared away tower of power. Military dress. Hosax is not only physically intimidating, but a veteran of war and talented tactician. His weakness is anger, which places him in a position where war always seems like a good idea. Though he will lie to the contrary, he has little respect for anyone. He hates the quiet. No one has ever seen him eat. SPEAKING EP 1

Chay:
A 12-year-old boy. Blond. Chay was born on Yellow Earth and knows more about Tribal lore than the members of each tribe. He is a road map and historian – even members of opposing factions would never harm him. SPEAKING EP 1

Gostampadam:
An old woman, “Ghost” is wise and advises her leader Jabreeti at every turn. Wrapped in a blue shawl, Ghost earned her spot on the council by joining her tribe, the Dia Zeem with the Bandu nine months prior to the opening of Season 1. The two tribes are now one, but members of the original tribe still hold Dia Zeem ideals and reserve themselves for a coup. SPEAKING EP 1

Tambule:
An old man, Tambule never makes any sense. He speaks in a sort of code, which no one but Jabreeti appreciates – he is fascinated by it. AUXILIARY EP 1

Ritrippler:
Ritrippler is a 20-something, troubled genius who can calculate odds, statistics, ratios, etc. faster than a calculator. He is also highly scientific and speculative. SPEAKING EP1

Aggit:
Aggit is a pretty man who knows how people think. He offers advice on how to communicate diplomatically, which offers to make and how to make them. He is a smooth operator. A politician.

Yomdeil:
A graceful but angry woman, Yomdeil is Jabreeti’s religious advisor. She wears a patchwork robe covered in scavenged trinkets that she has manipulated into spiritual art. She has jet-black hair – it is considered bad luck to walk behind her. SPEAKING EP1

Cass:
Male, 28. Jabreeti’s personal messenger and translator. Cass is extremely fit. He is an incredibly stable and fast runner. SPEAKING EP1

Saiev:
39. A killer. Saiev is the man Jabreeti goes to for evil favors. Saiev makes poisons, creative means of death. He can take down men twice his size with fewer moves. He is agile, quick, deadly serious all the time. Saiev speaks to Jabreeti and only Jabreeti. It is said that Saiev once tethered for the Bulga Sciabo. Many rumors about the one who doesn’t speak. True: He killed Cass’ father on Yellow Earth, but Cass is the only one who doesn’t know. SPEAKING ONGOING

The Bandu 6:
Recon and quick strike force of the Bandu. The Bandu 6 are the fiercest of the Bandu warriors. Their weapon of choice is the rock sling, which can be converted into a rope weapon for close quarters combat. The Bandu 6 are closely tied to the Bandu Council and take orders from Jabreeti, since he speaks for the council. However, their allegiance is to the Council, not Jabreeti.

Brolah:
Leader of the Bandu 6. Dry, stoic, and questioning, Brolah is a natural leader. He thinks out loud, never afraid of his own thoughts. He exudes confidence, but is not a braggart. Though the Bandu 6 are loyal to the Bandu Council, Brolah runs it like it’s his own personal unit. He will never question an order given to him by Jabreeti, but he will always look for a way to get something out of it for himself. He is in the end a man led by his conscience, a man of morality. A former military black ops operator, Brolah was sent to Yellow Earth for killing a civilian police officer during a street riot. SPEAKING EP2

Grutonga:
Communications operator and member of the Bandu 6. He is Brolah’s go-to guy, basically second in command of the Bandu 6. Grutonga carries the vital communications array used by the Bandu. A former Marine, Grutonga was found guilty of trying to blow up the Syrian embassy in Washington, DC. AUXILIARY EP2

Bundolo:
Bundolo is not the smartest member of the Bandu by a long shot. He is however, one of the fiercest warriors of the Bandu 6. He reacts to orders without even the slightest hint of thinking about them. Bundolo was found guilty of war crimes and sent to Yellow Earth for his actions. His crime? Following an order from his commander to slaughter a room full of civilians. What he didn’t know was that his commander was bluffing when he gave the order. AUXILIARY EP2

Bouditha:  She is greatly feared, trustworthy, loyal to Jabreeti and the Bandu cause, a master of disguise, can play any role, and can control any situation. AUXILIARY EP1

Boadea:  The identical twin sister of Boudicca with the same characteristics. AUXILIARY EP1

Idicael: He is greatly feared, trustworthy, loyal to Jabreeti and the Bandu cause, a master of disguise, can play any role, and can control any situation. AUXILIARY EP 1

Idocus: The identical twin brother of Iudicael with the same characteristics. AUXILIARY EP1

Katow:  Small in stature, a man with the proverbial Napoleon complex, always wanting to be in charge and therefore exceptionally fierce and violent. AUXILIARY EP1

Engavin:  A giant who is never without his Bandu slingshot; the trustworthy and brave defender of the Bandu. AUXILIARY EP1

Safron:  She is the only female member of the Bandu 6, tall, slender, cunning, agile with a photographic memory yet as fierce a fighter as any in the Bandu 6. AUXILIARY EP1

Doonu:  A slight, child like male and a remarkable slingshot marksman who is able to move around in areas without being seen. AUXILIARY EP1

Vargis: Closely related to a council member, this weapons maker for the Bandu Tribe is rather an outcast due to his off-the-wall antics and can’t be trusted as he tends to make light of serious situations and always has to have the last word. AUXILIARY EP1

Juntis: A senior council member, who is well respected by others, including Jabreeti, in his 40s-50s, with a strong voice and very direct approach. AUXILIARY EP1

Gortak :  Croatian terrorist who tried to assassinate a political leader and was sent to Yellow Earth for his crime. AUXILIARY EP1

Malenya: Female council member who is argumentative and opinionated. AUXILIARY EP1

Zarkask: The Collector, a former pedophile who gathers and cleans spinal columns to prepare them for use by other tribe members and is an older, creepy man who is an experienced surgeon adept with his trusty wooden carved tools. AUXILIARY EP1

Mulusk:  A big brute Asian/Pacific Islander, who is mute because his tongue was cut out by arival tribe during a confrontation in which ten men attacked him under false pretenses who now cannot tell his tale but at least he lived. AUXILIARY EP1

Bast: Female member of the Dai Zeem who hates the fact they have joined the Bandu but will only say so to fellow Dia Zeem and then becomes a ranting rage that is difficult to stop. Amunet: Formerly a member of the Dai Zeem, she has completely transitioned to Bandu living while secretly gathering information on council members for Ghost in hopes that one day a coup will be made and Dai Zeem will rise to power over the current Bandu leadership. AUXILIARY EP1

Ain: He has strategic skill and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants although he is content with his current position but he’s a lecher who tries to use his membership on the council to get women. AUXILIARY EP1

Tegas: A young male member of the Dai Zeem who is a killer and seems to have forgotten what happiness is and is angry and depressed, characteristics that Ghost uses to her advantage. AUXILIARY EP1

Sacmis: He would gladly give his body as food to anyone who could grant atonement for the crime Sacmis committed on Earth who loves everyone and made an oath to Jabreeti not to die, but he refuses to kill to eat and possesses an uncanny ability to sense impending danger and can always tell when someone is lying. AUXILIARY EP1

Amansha:  Jabreeti is attracted to this soft spoken black woman who does her best to stay out of trouble and tries to do as her tribe members ask of her because she hates confrontation but is stronger than she appears due to being a nurse. AUXILIARY EP1

Seriphina/Ash: Seriphina is a sweet girl who was raped multiple times as at a young age and grew up to be a doctor but was sent to Yellow Earth for torturing and killing the men who raped her, although she claims to have no memory or the rape or killings and suffers from multiple personality disorder. AUXILIARY EP1

Irina: 30-40 year old female, married to a prominent council member, who is a, Lady Macbeth type and uses her guile to influence the group. AUXILIARY EP1

Chandra:  20-30 year old mate to a male character, who is shy and demure, loyal to her male partner and doesn't care for involving herself into the hierarchy of the tribe. AUXILIARY EP1

Kiara: 20-30 year single female who is the daughter to another character in the tribe and is manipulative, diva like, self centered and is looked at negatively by the other female characters (a younger version of the Irina character). AUXILIARY EP1

Kotto:  50 year old male who is the senior member of the tribe and not a member of the council but is respected and a more intimate individual that certain tribe members turn to for wisdom and guidance where the Council may not be available. AUXILIARY EP1

Richar: 20-30 year old male, arrogant and brash, a lower ranking military person with aspirations to become a more influential force in the tribe, who looks up to Jabreeti. AUXILIARY EP1

Lorna: 20-30, a close friend of Kiara, individual who hangs onto Kiara like a yearning puppy looking for attention, aspiring to become the center of attention like Kiara. AUXILIARY EP1

Rinkin: The main engineer/inventor for the Bandu who has a  very logical, asperger like, antisocial personality and is excited by logical thinking and inventing but deep down has a good heart and is close friends with Ritripple. AUXILIARY EP1

Kern: Has the outward appearance of a strong diplomat which goes hand in hand with a strong ego who attempts to appear egalitarian and is very clever and willing to say what is necessary to the things moved his way. AUXILIARY EP1

Liveena: Optomistic, helpful and seemingly one of the few people who has not been strongly affected by the horrors of the planet but is smart and a strong leader whom some believe is closer than a friend to Jabreeti. AUXILIARY EP1

Tipes: Very young nephew of Jabreeti who is innocent and quiet and mostly does what people tell him. AUXILIARY EP1

THE BULGA SCIABO:
Contact:
James L.
jameslee101@gmail.com
Tribe description: Monarchy. Eat your own. Both Sexes
The Bulga Sciabo are a large and relatively unseen force made up of hypnotized generics lead by mind tether. Tremmen feeds his men leaves known as “Banetoe” which suppresses their appetite and makes them feel constantly full. They never ask for food. After Tremmen and his men have eaten, he evenly distributes the remainder of the food  (i.e., the bodies of those that have died of starvation).

Tremmen:
Master of Bulga Sciabo. Hefty, bald, with a tattoo of a reversed tree on both his forehead and the top of his head. He is greasy, overfed. He has a very theatrical and smooth manner of speaking like Jafar from Aladdin or Xerxes from “300”. His face looks almost Disney-animated in its movements. SPEAKING EP1

The Ruve:
Not an individual. A generic General assigned to a platoon or smaller Sciabo troop. AUXILIARY ONGOING.

THE VORXIO:

Contact: Dave L.  daveleadbetter@ymail.com
Tribe Description: Feudal system, each individual acts as his own state. Eat the enemy or the dead. Both sexes.
In the Vorxio, nobody shares. Valuables and food trade hands via the barter system, services and gambling. Any food acquired is distributed by Baron and purchased by tribe members via services or valuables paid into the community well, used for whatever the community needs. The community’s needs are decided by Baron. KC refers to the Vorxio community as, “Vegas without the alcohol.”

Baron: Charismatic and intelligent, Baron was a former bank executive before his conviction. He was sent to Yellow Earth for a fraudulent scheme so large it brought down three countries when it finally fell apart. As comfortable talking to a head-of-state as to a psychopathic killer, Baron could sell ice to an Eskimo. He leads the Vorxio through neither intimidation nor democracy. He merely proclaimed himself leader one day and nobody contested it. Baron lets the Vorxio pretty much run itself without becoming too involved with the day-to-day lives of its members. As long as nothing happens to his stuff, he stays out of just about anything that happens between tribe members. SPEAKING ONGOING

KC: An unassuming powerhouse. KC, though petite, is not one to be trifled with. She would run over a freight train like a freight train if cornered. Her diminutive size works to her advantage, as enemies tend to underestimate the extent of her strength and skill until it’s too late. As a drop scout for the Vorxio, KC is entitled to a percentage of whatever she brings in. She is an independent operator – the little time she does spend with the tribe,is chiefly to use the community dwelling as a base of operations. The only person she respects is Baron – she may even have some feelings for him. KC is on Yellow Earth for killing her husband with a crowbar. SPEAKING ONGOING

Born Adrienne Gamble, the “unassuming powerhouse” that now affronts the TRIBES series, KC (named for the city of her Birth – Kansas City) was a high school gymnast and track runner. After being brutally assaulted by an adolescent boyfriend, her father Arthur Gamble, a wheelchair bound engineer, forced her into self defense courses.

By 19 she had joined the army.

Though she has never seen military combat, she served as a military unarmed combat instructor for 5 years before her dishonorable discharge. She was court-martialed and found guilty of Murder in the second degree when she killed her Husband.  Returning  home to off-post housing to find her husband Alan Chase asleep in a recliner chair whilst the child in his care, a 5 year old Sara Gamble lie floating in the bathtub, KC saw red.  Enraged over such gross neglect KC beat Alan to death with a tire iron and immediately submitted herself to authorities.

KC has a number of sub surface talents. She claims she can spell any word, even the made-up ones. She has an unbelievable tolerance for pain.  Her favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, but she hates it when the chips get stuck in her teeth.

KC loves Jazz music and the Rolling Stones.

KC has several hidden and surface weaknesses. She forgets things. She has a terrible grasp of simple mathematics. She is incredibly insecure about her left hand which was malformed in her original attack. She wears a glove always, never takes it off. In truth, she is simply scarred on the flesh of her middle finger and a portion of her pinkie is missing; no nail.

A part of KC truly (not pretentiously or dramatically) wants to die.  She is racked with guilt and contemplates the brutal actions of the day in question over and over again. She has or will claim the memory of snuffing her husband out is the only solace she can take in light of her own guilt and heartache over the loss of her first and only child. She will never claim to regret the act… ever.

KC, like many modern women, has had a great percentage of the men in her life fail her. She is dramatically self-sufficient , though not in a masculine way. KC, above anything else, has a great ability to execute, rather than debate. Straight military mind-set. Talk is cheap and hesitation shameful.

Actor should challenge themselves to show restrained, prideful emotion and to understand the drive to make themselves a better, stronger woman, without attempting to emulate the behaviors of a man.

Macka: Treasurer and Notary of the Vorxio. The Vorxio lifestyle is one of much documentation. The Hall of Records is presided over by Macka who controls the titles and various agreements housed within it. Macka is a former accountant, and actually used to work for Baron before his empire fell apart. He was accused of cooking the books for Baron, as well as attempting to hire a contract killer to assassinate the judge before the trial started. SPEAKING EP3

Beema: A Vorxio Peddler, Beema is extremely mysterious and charming. He has the general make-up of a vampyrian used car salesman, all wrapped loosely in a sack of old and sun-burnt skin. He shouldn’t smile, but he does. It takes a matter of seconds for his seductive manner of speaking to distract from is almost intolerable physical appearance. SPEAKING EP2

THE MAYEN or THE COUNTED:

Contact:
Vicki T.
vtrinneer@inbox.com
Tribe description: Fascist. What Mayen says goes. Eat their own. Mixed sexes. Body worshippers (the prettiest of our tribes) who are all numbered via tattoos on their chests, dead center. They choose who to eat based upon a lottery, numbered stones pulled from a bag.

Gaiohm: Head of the Counted. A very smart man who can easily be identified as being distracted by Sestefret. He could be great if not for his love for her. He is especially fast and fit. His number is “93”. He is a narcissist who will only allow Sestefret to touch him. He believes he is physically perfect. SPEAKING EP 3

Sestefret:
A temptress with hair styled like tree branches. She is amazingly beautiful and uses her looks to control men of her tribe. She needs to say very little. Men seem to know what she wants and they give it to her. SPEAKING EP 2

Junis:
A genius, Junis is a hermit in his black tent. He is a sort of Ewan McGregor with an excitable, celebratory disposition. Bipolar, perhaps. He is afraid of trees and he hates Gaiohm. SPEAKING EP 3

THE AUM ZEIR & ADEFEUS:

Contact:
Judith T.
judith_tobi@yahoo.com
Tribe description: Socialist/communal. Eat the enemy. Only Female.
The Aum Zeir are not an overtly hostile force, but push them too far and you will be sorry. Though the Aum Zeir are excellent fighters, they have an advantage no tribe can match; Adefeus. Adefeus is a hulking monstrosity of a man, who if let loose destroys anyone and anything in sight. Any tribe that has ever encountered the Aum Zeir remembers one thing for future engagements: Always withdraw before they unleash the beast. Even though the Aum Zeir could potentially dominate any other tribe, they don’t. Mainly because they wish only to be left alone.

Kima: The leader of the Aum Zeir, she is also the protector of Sair. They share a mother-daughter bond, even though Kima is not her real mother. Kima is adamant that no one in her society will ever get more than what they deserve, everyone will share equally. Kima is a good-natured individual, usually. Although if she is pushed hard enough, she will attack with a vengeance. She is on Yellow Earth for leading a civilian force against a government food bank after a massive hurricane so that they could distribute it to the needy. Twelve police officers and twenty National Guard troops were killed in the resulting riot.

Modine:
Kima’s second in command, Modine is a force to be reckoned with. The very definition of an Amazonian warrior, Modine is both attractive and physically intimidating. Her unrelenting devotion to Kima may be of a sexual nature, but she would never admit to that. She would die to protect Kima or any member of the Aum Zeir, and is often the first to jump into battle. She was sentenced to Yellow Earth for murdering a politician, a female she was rumored to be sexually involved with.

Sair:
A small, gentle child, she is the only force known on Yellow Earth that can calm Adefeus. If she removes her hand from Adefeus, he will go berserk; killing anything within reach, even the Aum Zeir. Sair is wise beyond her years, but is prone to tantrums if she doesn’t get what she wants. She is however, revered among the Aum Zeir because of her control over Adefeus. She was born on Yellow Earth.

Adefeus:
A beast like no other. Adefeus is built like a linebacker on growth hormones and steroids. If unleashed, twenty men couldn’t take him down. Only one person, Sair, has control over him and it isn’t through any verbal commands. The switch is on, off. If Sair removes her hand from Adefeus, he will kill anything in sight, excluding Sair. If she puts her hand back on him, he behaves like a drugged puppy.

Hats:
As advertized, loves hats. Only, not just the kind you wear on your head, also duty-wise. Hats is brilliant at whatever she attempts. She is a jack-of-all-trades and is not intimidated by any task. She is quite possibly a genius, but can be very sadistic and unpredictable at times. She was sentenced to Yellow Earth for killing her victims and assuming their identity.

THE ORDER OF THE FIRST ONE:

Contact:
Ace M.
acemasters@rebeldawncf.com
Tribe Description: Monotheistic. Eat the enemy. Both sexes.

The Order of the First One is a fanatic religious tribe that worships whom they call The First One. The First One was the first person to ever be dropped off on Yellow Earth. It is unknown whether The First One was male or female.

The Order considers the First One to be a God sent here as punishment and due to religious persecution. They await the return of the First One to set them free of the coils of Yellow Earth so they can spread their message throughout the universe.

To the Order, everything comes back to the First One. All they do is based upon their belief and faith of him. To them, everything that has happened, or will happen, has been decried by the First One.

They are lead by a Pope. Pope is the name given to each male member of a bloodline that is said to be the direct descendants of The First One. Once a Pope dies, his eldest, or only, son takes his place. The current Pope is the only one of recent memory.

While many members of other tribes don’t care about The Order, the more astute members, and leaders, do. Some question the legitimacy of the claim that any Pope is descendant from The First One, as few are sure how long Yellow Earth has been used as a Prison. The fact that few remember, or are old enough to remember, there having been a different Pope then the current one fuels this belief.

Whether or not the claim is true, all on Yellow Earth do know one thing: The Order is dangerous.

They hold one proclamation as truth: If you do not serve the First One, you must die for the First One. They follow this to the letter and any they cannot convert they kill in a ceremony and feed them to the followers as “food given by the First One.”

The Order has even been known to absorb (convert/kill) entire smaller tribes. Nowhere is this more evident than their recent absorption of “The Republic,” a small tribe that had been started by a new comer to Yellow Earth, former politician Rackham.

Rackham is a convert now known as Noble.

Their actual beliefs and motives are ambiguous as no one from any of the other Tribes has ever been able to infiltrate and discover what they are truly about.

When the Order learns of Noah, they will proclaim he is the fulfillment of a prophecy from the First One. From this point on, they will strive to gain control over him. However, they will not convert him, as they see him as a savior and the one that will finally help them spread the Order.

In a weird twist of fate, they will protect him at any cost.

FOOD: Food is usually provided in two ways: In the form of people they cannot convert, who are then sacrificed for food, or their own members who will sacrifice themselves as food for “The First One.”

SYMBOLS: The Order uses fact two symbols, but they are a variation of the same symbol. The symbol is a man standing inside a circle with his arms held either up or down.

Follower/Convert or Passive Symbol:

The first symbol, with arms held down, is the normal symbol. It is used by Followers, and is normally marked on clothing they wear with chalk. It is also used to mark territory that the Tribe is laying claim to.

The Symbol is used for two purposes: To show a follower and to give warning.

It is the passive symbol.

Hi Mark:

This is the Symbol used by Bishop, Noble and Pope. It is an active symbol that represents pureness, leadership and Victory. In this symbol the arms are held up.

Outside of Bishop, Noble and Pope, if the mark is used, it symbolizes that the Order has been victorious in some way.

Bishop: The third in line of The Order and perhaps the most fanatical believer of all the members. He is the person directly responsible for preaching to The Order and for converting new followers. Bishop is an extremely dangerous person.

Noble:
The second in line and the only real confidant of the leader of The Order. He is the follower that the First One ‘speaks to’ and gives ‘guidance’ through. Even though he is a believer, he is part charlatan, as he sees the ultimate truth: that The Order is the perfect way to control people – and stay safe.

Pope: The head of the Order and the Ultimate embodiment of The First One. This position is handed down to the heirs of each Pope, as the Pope is said to be the direct descendant of the First One. The family line is kept intact via a prophecy of doom that will befall The Order if the family line is broken.

Pope, like Noble, knows that the ultimate power of The Order is the control of the people – and with such control comes more power. An ambitious man, he wants control of Yellow Earth, and believes that will bring him closer to Godhood. However his ambition far outstrips his ability. The true power behind Pope – at least this Pope – is Noble.

Aber: Mature, dark hair female and one of the older convert. She is higher up in the order and one of the assistant of Bishop.

Atley: A knowledge follower, higher up in the order that looks like a man who has ‘lived life.’

Brell: Hard looking, light haired hardcore follower.

Caliri: Short, slim built follower.

Chael: Attractive, dark haired follower and recent convert. She may become a favorite of Noble.

Dgar: Dark hair, bearded (or Goatee) follower.

Eath: Dark hair, motherly type follower.

Ichen: Slim, blonde follower.

Haruf: Male Child.

Hekhv: Hippy.

Lager: Youthful, wide-eyed follower and new convert.

Later: Balding/Bald follower.

Mire: Thicker, well feed female follower.

Nton: Female who is obsessed with Noble, may or may not be a former member of his short-lived tribe.

Nxt: Black female follower.

Orld:Female Child/teenager.

Plete: Pope’s younger brother.

Riad: Dark Haired seductress.

Richo: Devoted follower – of Noble. Former member of Noble’s The Republic, when he was Rackham.

Tain: Young, dark haired seductress and hardcore follower who helps with converting.

Teph: Black, fanatic, berserker follower ready to kill anyone in the Order’s way.

Tsol: Beautiful follower, long flowing hair – someone Pope is considering fathering a child with.

Tunga: Very young, teenage looking female follower who is a little naïve and over their head. Joined of her own free will.

THE ERRENDI: Contact: Gita Farid thegodbeggarsdaughter@gmail.com

Monarchy. Caste system. Never eat their own. Both sexes. The Errendi are the most technologically advanced, and possibly the oldest Tribe. They have developed a rigid caste system and social codes (dress, speech) in an attempt to transcend the brutality of Yellow Earth. Their stockpile of preserved food provides stability. They search constantly for downed drop ships to scavenge.

Despite their moralistic culture, they treat the other tribes with inhuman cruelty.

Queen Mother/Mum: She leads the Errendi as queen, although rivals lurk in the high caste. She is an attractive matron, regal, seductive, and icy. Her hair is in a tight bun, and she wears metal jewelry over her cleavage, a deliberate show of excess on a wasted planet. Her showy (relative to the other tribes) clothing is woven by women of the lower castes. She is obsessed with the clock/sun dial that structures the days of the tribe.

The Professor: He is hawkish, clean-shaven (as are all the male Errendi), and nearly blind without his cracked glasses. His greatest fear is that the glasses will break, rendering him and his engineering skills useless. His gangly body is weighed down by an assortment of bulky, analog devices he invented. He is devoted to Mother, and to his young apprentice, a brilliant young schemer. Other than those two, he cares little for people, and spends his time creating technology and experimenting on captured tribesmen.

Ja: Mixed race Rastafarian. Performs  minor miracles, but also makes “Big” mistakes that pulls everyone in. Tries to atone for his ancestral past by aligning himself more with his Rasta roots.

Saphavia: Spoilt, from ancient Mesopotamian origin, proud, scheming, brilliant when she wants something. It is rumoured she is related distantly to the Professor. In some scenes, hints of this will unfold. Uses charcoal debris to line her eyes and seduce newcomers. Has light-emitting pupils. Competes with Mum, and tries to wear her clothes/ jewelry when she is not there. Belly-dancer costume when entertaining higher caste/dignitaries

Lullaby Lamb: A woman in late 40’s (not Caucasian), rescues children and babies destined for experiments/annihilation by The Professor.

H: Muscular he-man, Mum’s right hand man and fancy. He uses her, although pledges complete allegiance to her and her tribe.

Jelwold: Brilliant schemer apprenticed to The Professor. Loathes Hormoz and is jealous of him. Transforms himself from an outsider/orphan to a blooming Adonis. Has the hots for Saphavia.

Pyrrochek: Slavik-origin, silent, moody, not sure whose side he’s on. Very good at building things with hands. Was attached to his mother when he was kidnapped as a toddler.

Awizza-Quarry: GENERAL - Head of the Armed Forces and pompous dictator wannabe. Collaborates with The Professor on latest technology that the Professor thinks he’s invented. Commands the E-Lite squad of Tekknazons that protect the wealth and food supplies and shoot on all at notice.

Chevron-Gaze: So-called because he wears shades and no-one has seen his eyes. Provides comic relief to his Tribe. He HATES this tribe and planet . Has chevron scars on his wrists.

Alana: Manic depressive, High Order of the Mind (PhD) in molecular malfunction due to Psychotropic Atrophy. Analyzes everything.

Zukaris: Also of Mesopotamian origin. Slim, dark-skinned, kind, name derived from being sweet. Outstanding soldier and secret help to Lullaby Lamb, which creates a moral dilemma.

Trymba: A fat, gay Richard Simmons-like exercise nut. Adores Mother, and always tries to sit next to her at meals and banquets so she’ll throw him a morsel. He lives for her morsels. An unhappy hypocrite with no backbone.

THE SUPRA-FRACTALS - A ragtag band/army that was there before and absorbed into the Errendi Tribe because of their deep knowledge of the area, planet, galaxy and local interplanetarylore. They resent the hierarchy and see themselves as the true rulers. Mother tolerates them, but any infractions are met with extreme harshness, and they respond by holding out information, thus stalemate etc.

Libida: Tribal poet, mostly geared towards persuading the Tekknazons into a horizontal position. The butt of Chevron-Gaze’s jokes. Quotes Shakespeare badly to illiterate soldiers, and landing and take-off manuals, and they’ve been there so long, they don’t know the difference.

Hemosmere: A beautiful and distant woman whose husband was killed by Mother. Wants revenge by replacing Her.

Kanz: Bodice-rippingly gorgeous! Strong, articulate, a defender, Mother wants him.  Everybody wants him. He gets away with a lot, but always for justice. She makes him tow the line by always giving him extra.

THE BROOD or GHER-SHIN ENCLAVE:
Contact: John M.
polearm62@hotmail.com

Tribe description: Monarchy. Upper class rules. Eat non-mutants.
The Brood is ruled by the upper class made up entirely of mutants (The Pure Bloods). There is no middle class. The mutants believe they descended from an alien species that were ejected here by providence, divine influence. Actually the mutants were transformed by an adverse reaction to the vegetation of the planet during a human pregnancy. The mutants are dark yellow-skinned from pigmentation problems. The Gher-shin Enclave is led by two mutants Nyt (female) and Dey (male), both ruling one part of an entire Yellow Earth day. The most beautiful humans are considered ugliest by mutant standards; therefore, those women are Breeders for the warriors which are of both sexes.

Nyt: Her sacred name is Malvul-gur. A female ruler during the daylight hours who has a pot belly covered by a purple gown, she wears a black boned-mask to cover her face, since no one may look upon her divine features. Her thick arms hang from under her gown like large, yellow branches, knots adorning her leathery skin from ritual punctures.  If her sacred name is spoken by others, then they must die. She has a second mouth in her belly that keens a dreadful sound to use at her will.

Dey:
His sacred name is Illiath-morg. A male ruler of the night, he is tall by mutant standards, hunched slightly at the shoulders, large-spiked bones protruding from where his shoulder blades should be, and powerful arms that wield a large two-handed mace made of crude metals. He wears a white boned-mask to cover his divine features, a purple robe that hangs near the ground, a brown leather shirt snapped up to his neck line, and denim jeans. If his sacred name is spoken by others, then they must die. He has a hole in his chest that sprays a substance that is toxic to human skin.

Regent:
A male mutant who is a steward at the hours of dusk and dawn. He may not act in a monarchial fashion, but he carries out orders given to him as if he had his rulers’ authority. He stands tall at four feet with spindly legs and arms that nearly drag the ground. He looks puny but he has the command of the blood guard from both rulers at his side to carry out orders. He wears a pointy purple hat that lies to the side, and he has small pot belly with a shiny stone in the naval.

The Blood Guard: These fierce warriors (Chained Warriors) are bred for fighting from an early age. Two warriors (human) are chained together at an early age to fight at each other’s sides, mainly for the protection of the ruling class. The ugliest and most powerful warriors are chosen by the rulers as guards for royal protection. The chained fighters build massive muscles on their outside arms and wield wooden clubs. They wear regular clothes but wear purple sashes to mark their station.  Their inner arms are unequal to the outer in size and bulk, but carry small wooden shields. Those chosen to be Blood Guards have their tongues cut out since they have taken a ‘Blood Oath’ and must fight by instinct. A Blood Oath means they are allowed to utter the sacred names of Dey or Nyt without dying; however, their tongues are cut out instead as an act of fealty to their providential rulers. Those who don’t make Blood Guard become regular warriors. Those who protect the mother queen also undergo eunuchism to protect the royal bloodline.

Chimera:
(Blood Leaders) are the most powerful of the Blood Guard, but they keep their tongues. They do not undergo the Blood Oath.

THE KEN:

Contact: Todd V.  zimbean@yahoo.com
Tribe description: Monarchic with hierarchical sub-clans. Xenophobic. Eat stored ancestry. Both sexes.
The Ken is a tribe of about 500 comprised entirely of native children, all seemingly pre-pubescent except for their leader, Aria, the only remaining adult, a once-beautiful matron of advanced but undetermined age (she looks to be about 60).

The Ken are fiercely private and protective cave dwellers, gifted scavengers and technologists who consider themselves the oldest tribe on the planet.

As yet undiscovered by other tribes, In the “ancient times” the tribe was formed by a large number of legally innocent, peace-loving adult convicts who planned to repopulate through extensive, carefully designed inter-breeding with the ultimate goal of a planet-wide, peaceful society.

For decades they grew their numbers into the thousands and seemed to be well on their way to their goal, but were eventually discovered by marauding tribes and forced to go to war. Soon all of the adults had ventured to war and were decimated by warring tribes.  As luck would have it, these tribes also wiped each other out, leaving their remains and those of thousands of slain Ken adults in their wake.

The remaining Ken – all children – scavenged the dead and worked out a method for storing and preserving the corpses deep within caverns.  The massive amount of dead ensured sustenance for generations to come – or at least that’s the prevailing explanation for the constant availability of food. The violence of their parents fostered intense resentment, and the children came to scorn the idea of adulthood.

They began to banish members to the wilds once they reached puberty.  Finally a scientist – a girl named Aria – developed a compound from a mix of toxic indigenous plant life that, in small amounts, inhibited growth safely and indefinitely.  Aria was immediately named their leader. The Ken inhabit dozens of hidden caves across a remote, otherwise (heretofore) untraveled sector of Yellow Earth. It is unknown exactly how long this remaining group of children has been alive, but it is clear that each child has become wise – and often jaded – far beyond his/her apparent years.

At some point Aria mysteriously stopped taking the compound and has aged – albeit slowly. Over time (decades? centuries?) the Ken have scavenged an immense amount of equipment left by Planter crashes, including the bulk of a command chassis, which they have been reconstructing into a craft that will let them escape the planet. They are, in fact, quite close to achieving their goal, as the ship is nearing completion. The Ken maintain an illusion of peace among themselves, in keeping with Aria’s Creed.  In reality the clans are all on the verge of violent eruption and civil strife – just like the ancestral adults for whom they hold contempt.

It was the grownups’ violent, warring natures that originally compelled the children to avert adulthood completely.  The inevitability of fractious human nature is finally becoming clear to the Ken. It is believed that Aria is in her last days, and there is an unspoken movement to select a new leader, with every tribe grooming its own candidate.

Aria:
Leader of the Ken for centuries.  Her calm, quiet authority has so far maintained the peace among the sub-clans of children.  Interacts only through her viceroy, Michael.  Holds many secrets.

Michael:
Aria’s viceroy, a boy who looks about 8 years old. The prime intermediary between her and the children.  Steadfast, unrelenting and firm.  His word is final and rarely questioned.

Bec:  Michael’s second, keeper of the food storage. She is the only one – aside from the Boe Clan – aware that the tribe is nearly bereft of food.  Secret chief of the Boe Clan.

Grown: This adult male has a bond with the Boe clan to help them seek out and find (and kill?) fresh meat to replenish the tribes food stores.  Mildly mentally challenged, but loyal.

***BOE CLAN***:  Secret, ruthless gatherers of fresh kills from the wilds to bolster the dwindling food stores. Underground movement; unknown to any but Aria and Bec.

Zin: Leader of this ad hoc clan of crazy, dirty urchins, in that he’s the only one who can calm down enough to take orders from Bec. Ruthless on food hunts.  The other clan members look to him for direction, aping his actions.

Spaz: He is aptly named.  Almost impossible to calm him down.  Known to growl like an animal.  Valuable for his ability to communicate with the Grown, though sometimes his translation is patchy, leading to trouble.

Muz: Skuzziest of the clan.  Skin nearly black from dirt.  Never bathes, has worn the same clothes for years.  He and his brother Noz take care of most of the dirty work of chopping up and hauling the fresh-kill food.  Can be contentious.

Noz:  2nd skuzziest of the clan.  Dirty skin with patches of clean skin. He tries to clean up occasionally.  Has one change of clothes.  Chops/hauls food with his brother, Muz.  Tendency toward laziness.  Pessimist, known to cry.

***KENTEC***:  Technicians, builders of the Craft. Top of the clan chain. Kentecs hold the knowledge that the finished Craft will accommodate less than half of the tribe.

Benjamin: Benj for short.  Near Michaels age.  Lead engineer of the clan.  Popular with the girls, though unobtainable.  Probably the most emotionally mature member of the tribe.  Insanely brilliant.

Tayll (pronounced Tile) Benj’s right-hand man.  Age 8-12.  Delegates tech duties, supervises.  Tightly wound, too aware that he’s no match for Benj.  Idolizes him.

Jets: Nutty, hyperactive technician, often screws things up.  Always seems to be running.  Way too much excess energy.

Spigot: Chief technician.  Always, ALWAYS has a solution - usually a dozen of them - to any problem.  A fountain of technical knowledge.  Somewhat stunted socially.

***STEPPS CLAN***:  All male, next in the chain after Kentec.  Prideful, arrogant, bossy.  Consider themselves superior to any other clan. Inventors, providers of devices of convenience for the tribe.  Named after their leader, the gruff, unbalanced Stepp.

Stepp: Big boss of the clan.  Age around 10.  Textbook bully.  Always telling people what they should do.  Deeply hurt inside, he hides it with arrogance while not even aware that’s what he’s doing.

Lans (pronounced Lance): Brother (twin?) of Hans. Age around 10.  The bully.  Likes to threaten people.  Blunt to a fault.  Sensitive about the similarity of his brothers name.  All talk.

Hans: Shy brother (twin?) of Lans, who pushes him around constantly.  Hans just sucks it up and perseveres.  His pacifist nature has granted him wisdom beyond most of the kids.

Pike: The littlest of the Stepps (6-8 yrs old).  Gets in over his head a lot.  Wants so bad to be a tough guy.  Terrorizes the youngest boys.

***CORDIAS CLAN***:  All female, outwardly kind and magnanimous, privately scheming and evil.  Named for their leader, Cordia.  They cleverly spread seeds of discord, which unfailingly pit one clan against another.

Cordia (pronounced Cor-juh): Head of the clan, 10- 12 yrs old.  Always dressed up (whatever that can mean on YE), self-consciously beautiful, uses her feminine wiles to stir up trouble.  Often comes across as bitchy.  At heart, just not very nice.

Anda (pronounced On-duh): Cordia’s second, 10- 12 yrs old. Sweet girl, actually prettier than Cordia but hides it well to avoid unpleasant confrontation.  As good a leader as Cordia, but very empathetic and fair with disputes.

Little Jen: The youngest of the Cordias, a member thanks to legacy (she’s Anda’s sister).  Cute but not the brightest.  Tends to pester the other girls too much about clothes, makeup, etc.  They use her as a decoy and for creating distractions.

Fosca (pronounced Foss-kuh): Librarian type.  Doesn’t talk much, but when she does it is straight and to the point.  Hates wasting time. Usually has final say over any planned activity.  She subtly leads Cordia to follow her suggestions and in effect, Fosca is the true clan leader.

***KIDDIE CLAN***: The youngest and weakest of all the clans, bottom of the chain.  Silently looked after by the Cordias, who enlist them in nefarious plots.  Piteous little attention whores.

Other nameless clans make up the rest of the tribe.
