mayhemeventposterLR.jpg

REBEL MAYHEM is, quite simply, the future of AZ film challenges! Designed by the founders of Rebel Filmmaker AZ and the Filmstock Film Festival, MAYHEM calls upon filmmakers in the state of Arizona to conquer cinematic challenges while simultaneously creating buzz and growth in their community. Mayhem, appropriately titled for the month in which it will first launch (MAY 2010), is a fresh look at film production and provides just the type of “craziness” a budding film community needs. Each MAYHEM competition will have a theme. Your first bout of insanity…

REBEL MAYHEM: Killing Arizona

In this REBEL MAYHEM competition, AZ Filmmakers are challenged to abide by a regularly updated ONLINE OBITUARY as they use the entire month of May to shoot a 3 minute film wherein 50+ people die. That's alot of people, you say? Exactly. The main goal of Rebel Mayhem is to utilize not just the AZ film community, but the entire state of Arizona. What better way to get the state involved and interested in AZ film than to put them in a film and let them have fun! This film challenge will create an avenue for exposure for the AZ film community and will get "everyone" involved in and educated about AZ film!

No, we do not condone or promote killing. What we DO promote (and the whole point of the challenge) is to gain awareness for the AZ film community by getting everyone in the state involved in a film. This challenge looks to accomplish that by having 50 people die in the film - it doesn't have to be gory or a horror-filled, blood soaked film...it's up to YOU to be creative. So relax, get a group of friends together, and have some fun making a movie!
